This week has been more than a little hectic because my dad has been in the hospital, so I’ve been stopping by there after work and getting home later than usual. There have also been several issues happening at school. Add to that the fact that I’ve been trying my best to keep up with the blog and my 365 Project which requires taking pictures every day. I feel like I’m meeting myself coming and going at the back door every night.
Last night, I got home really late, after my dad’s surgery recovery took longer than expected. For anyone who will ask, the surgery itself went very well. He was hospitalized for an intestinal blockage and when they went in to do the surgery, they weren’t certain what they would find. It turned out that he had a hernia and his intestine had gotten pinched in it, so it was a matter of pushing his intestine back in where it should be and sewing the hernia closed. Considering that they were worried they’d have to remove or cut into his intestine, that’s a pretty lucky outcome. After the surgery, they had some trouble getting his pain managed and under control, which caused the delay in his release from recovery, but he was telling jokes and remembering a lot of details about things from his life, so I think he’s well on the road to recovery.
When I got home, Küster and Mr. Taleteller were returning from a walk. My husband had already taken Morgan and Bunny for walks of their own. When Küster saw me, he nearly leaped out of his fur. It’s nice to be loved, even when the furry beast has to be restrained by my husband so he can’t knock me down getting out of the car.
As I came inside, I was greeted by the rest of the Canine Welcoming Committee. Morgan barked from her crate in excitement and Bunny and Blueberry came to greet me in the kitchen, pressing themselves against me. It’s funny how happy they are to air their laundry lists of complaints whenever they’ve been left alone with my husband, yet are so excited to see him when he gets home every afternoon from work.
Blueberry: Everyone else got to go for a walk and I didn’t!
Me: You don’t like going for walks and you complain when we try to make you go on one.
Blueberry: Silence! I expected to be compensated by being taken for a ride in the van.
Me: I’m sure that can be worked out…
Morgan: Dad left me in the crate and took Küster for a walk!
Me: Not taking him for a walk results in none of us sleeping at night. I’m sorry, it’s a price you’ll have to pay.
Küster: Pet me! Pet me! I missed you! Pet me! It’s the Küster show!
Me: It’s always the Küster show.
Bunny: Do I know you?
Me: Et tu, Bunny?
With that, most of the dogs left the kitchen and went to their spaces to curl up and rest. I hung up my coat and started trying to think about the things I needed to do before I could crawl in bed. I turned to find myself alone in the kitchen with one tiny hound gazing at me expectantly.
Bunny: You know that tomorrow is Saturday, right?
Me: Trust me, I am WELL aware that it is Saturday!
Bunny: You know that’s my day for adventure.
Me: Yes…
Bunny: Well, I hope you have something good planned. I need blog material for Monday and frankly, last weekend was a bit light.
Me: Well’ after I sleep in, we’ll think about it.
Bunny: I can live with that! Plan on sharing the bed in the morning!
Me: It’s a deal!
Bunny: Just remember to obey the Greyhound.
I guess I’ve been told. I’m not sure what the day holds in store for us, but I’m looking forward to a day catching up on some rest and reconnecting with my husband and the dogs. Hopefully, we can catch up on our Idita Walk minutes, too. I hope that whatever the day brings you, you can enjoy it and that it brings you whatever it is that you need.

We’re participating in this Saturday’s Pet Blog Hop, hosting by Life With Dogs, Two Little Cavaliers and Confessions of the Plume. If you’d like to participate, please follow the rules and follow your three hosts, add your blog to the Linky and copy and paste the html code into your html editor. Thanks again to our hosts for putting on the hop!

You should see the greeting my MOM gets when she picks me up from Bert’s place. And I am not talking about me. There are on average 10 to 12 dogs that leap, lung, run run to greet her and try to get petted. I should video it some day. Oh I I can’t forget my ball crazy buddy Bert, who as soon as she pulls up runs and finds his ball and as soon as she opens the gate is all over her to throw the thing for him. Total craziness. But I think she really loves the greeting we all give her. She has yet to be knocked down (I don’t know how) but there has been toes stomped on and a brused to her ribs. But it’s a small price to pay for all that love. Enjoy your weekend whatever you all do.
Blessings,
Goose

Hi Y’all!
Keeping fingers and paws crossed your dad continues to recover quickly. My Human said to tell you she is remembering y’all in her prayers.
While those are beautiful portraits, tell the pawed ones the Hawk says they need to be more sympathetic and considerate of you. I think I’d refrain from making them look so glamorous if they continue on their present path of behavior…this is one dog to a human speaking…
Y’all come by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
I never tire of your conversations with the dogs! And the pics today are stunning!
Good advice, Bunny. I’m glad your dad is recovering well.
Busy week. Glad your dad is recovering ok. Always amazed at how happy the kids are to see me when I get home. Whether I just out to run an errand, or I’ve been on the road all week. Makes no difference to them.
Glad to hear your dad is recovering and the surgery revealed a less serious problem than it could be.
I hope his improvement means a bit more rest is coming your way.
Luckily, you have such a loving family to return to when you’re being run ragged everywhere else.
We are glad your Dad is recovering – sending lots of Golden healing vibes his way.

LOL! I love Bunny’s parting comment. As if you could ever NOT obey the Greyhound!
I am glad your Dad came through surgery fine. What a relief to nor have to cut into his intestine. My sister just had hernia surgery and pain management was an issue for her too. Wishing your Dad a speedy recovery.
I hope you and Bunny have a fun adventure today!
Glad to hear you dads surgery went well. I hope you are able to get out for a nice adventure this weekend.
Gorgeous pictures of everybody!
Elka greets everybody that she knows and remembers with joyful wonderment, even if they’ve only been sleeping or in the bathroom. It’s like she can’t believe they keep coming back!
Wishing your dad a speedy recovery.
Hi am happy that your Dad’s surgery went well and that he is on the road to recovery. I don’t know HOW you are managing it all.
Please take some time today just for YOU!
xoxo

So glad to hear your dad’s surgery was a better outcome than originally thought. Hope his pain control is getting better each day and he will soon feel on top of the world again. Don’t forget to get some rest for yourself.
I’d say “take a break from the blog!” but somehow, I know that isn’t going to happen. Best wishes to your dad X
Oh man, what a week. I hope that your weekend has been wonderfully relaxing and that your dad is still on the fast track to recovery. I’ve been feeling a bit like you this week, and barely making it by so I understand.
