Bunny here at the keyboard to share an unusual adventure that we had this weekend.
A few days ago, Shrimp’s mom asked us if we could watch her overnight. Mom was a little surprised, but they try to keep an eye on Shrimp, so Mom and Dad said it was okay. We didn’t know about this beforehand, Mom and Dad just showed up with Shrimp and all her stuff. That human puppy had more accessories and stuff than I do! I was impressed. She had a lot of smells on her, too. Blueberry and I gave her a thorough insnifftigation and we approved of her staying with us. After our insnifftigation, we determined that she should be called Goldilocks on the blog from now on.
Küster really liked her, too. When he got out of his crate, he showed her his favorite toy, gave her a kiss and tried to play with some of her toys. Goldilocks really liked him and she smiled at him a lot. He wanted to know when she was moving in, but the rest of us told him that wasn’t happening.
Morgan, however, completely lost her mind. She was very excited about the human puppy, but she couldn’t control herself at all. Dad worked with her for about an hour to try to get her brain to start working again, but she ended up in the kennel in the basement until Goldilocks went to bed. When he brought her back upstairs, she went after Mom because she could smell Goldilocks on her. Mom has some scratches on her chest and a bruise on her arm. Mom doesn’t think that Morgan didn’t like Goldilocks, more that she just went into total sensory overload. We’re putting Mo into the brain rewiring program in hopes that it will bring her back to reality.
Of course, when bedtime came, we were all a little less enthusiastic about Goldilocks staying at our house. For something so tiny, she sure can cry a lot. We know a lot of things that she didn’t want, like toys, a bottle and being talked to. Morgan even howled from the basement in sympathy. It was a happy moment when she finally fell asleep.
Aside from Morgan losing her mind, the rest of us mostly enjoyed Goldilocks. She made a good headrest and the smells she had were fascinating. Küster, Blueberry and I could have sniffed her for days. She also seems to really like us. She lives in an apartment, so she can’t have animals live with her, but I think she would like to. She did have some pretty neat toys, too. Küster’s favorite was a little flower that sang and her panda Pillow Pet. My bet is that Mom is not buying him a Pillow Pet of his own, though, given his propensity towards shredding and destuffing things. I think I might like to have a Pillow Pet of my own, though, although I think I’d rather just have the human puppy visit from time to time.
It was a different sort of adventure for us for sure, but that’s what keeps life interesting! We enjoyed having Goldilocks here for the most part and we hope she’ll come back to visit again. She just has to promise to bring some toys with her.

That little Shrimp…errr Goldilocks is a cutie. I bet she smelled different then all the other puppies. Bunny you sure look like you were being a good girl and that was awful nice of Goldilocks to share her pillow with you. I hope you had a great weekend with your puppy pal
That last photo is just adorable. Glad The Infidel behaved. Shame Morgan got just too excited.
Goldilocks and the Four Dogs – can’t wait to see it in print!
Aw Bunny that is a very cute photo!! Mo will probably get better if she has the human pup around more often – Bender LOVES human pups though he can be a bit rough – he doesn’t understand that he needs to go easier when playing tug-o-war with little people. Barbie can take em or leave em…
Oh dears…a BABY, ain’t hey awesome! They smell likes nuttin’ I has evers smelled befores and once they warm up to you…they is ALL overs da place and YOU. Good thing Goldilocks don’t try to picks you up like they does me.
I hope her gets to come visit more so hers cn get used to doggies, dat is a most important life skill to has.
Puddles
Poor Morgan. That baby must have been very confusing for her. I’m sure she was glad when the wee beast went home. Babies are such an odd bundle of smells and sounds that it must be confusing for dogs trying to figure out what they are.
Mango Momma
I bet there were some crazy smells. Hope Morgan has recovered.
OMG, She is a big girl now, that little shrimp!
I know a few people that would benefit from a re-wiring program…
Let’s hope Morgan soon understand Goldilocks is fun. In addition to been cute.
Wow, that was quite the experience!
Oreo is very proud of Morgan. Oreo thinks anyone under twenty one is very, very suspicious and unpredictable.
Adorable picture of you and Goldilocks, Bunny.
I’m really curious now. I wonder what Morgan was thinking.
The last picture is the cutest thing.
Oh poor Morgan. I am sure she just did go in to protective overload. I love it when I go over to my gal pals Belle’s house and play with her little peep “L”. I’m always kissing him and helping him play with his toys.
Blessings,
Goose
Oh Bunny, you are so lucky to have Goldilocks visit! Hopefully she’ll come more often, with all her toys of course! Poor Morgan going ballistic, maybe Goldi will forget a few things when she leaves like a blankie or onesie and Morgan can lay and roll around in her favorite new scent!
That last photo is too precious and I am sorry but the part about Morgan had me laughing my head off!!!! Looks like in the last photo Goldilocks “found a bed that was JUST RIGHT!”
How much fun is this! Our pups aren’t used to children, but they’re very good at being calm and being pet by youngsters. They haven’t been exposed to babies yet.
One of our dogs, the youngest, is Blueberry too, but this is a nickname. His name is Blue.
Love the story. Thanks for sharing.
I hope Morgan can get used to Goldilocks coming over so she can visit more often. That last picture is of course too precious.
Cindy
So glad you had a little 2 legger visit you. We have confidence that Morgan will catch on real soon. You look very cozy next to the 2-legger. Sniffs, The HoundDogs
Goldilocks is just gorgeous! Glad you all had fun, despite the crying. ..and human puppies can truly cry a lot!!!
Those Homeland Security guys don’t have any kind of easy time ever. I feel badly for Morgan being so confused about this little person. But what a beauty she is and the last pic with her and Bunny was very special.
I hope she gets to come often and we can watch her grow!
Cheeers,
Stella, and Zkhat
Little humans sure do have some interesting smells! You look like you were just grreat with her — not that I expected anything else! I feel bad for poor Morgan, though. I hope she’s calmed down now.
What a cutie pie. It is interesting how we react to those puppys. I knock them over than play. My Lily gets extremely submissive and let’s them do anything to her
Benny & Lily
Oh Bunny, that last photo of you and Goldilocks all snuggled up is just precious. I love human puppies too…they smell awesome and they always “accidentally” drop food to you!
Hugs,
Oz
Silas is, sympathetically speaking, in the basement with poor Morgan. People under five feet tall are NOT to be trusted.
I’m surprised Morgan went so bonkers! Her Siamese twin, separated at birth, Riley really likes our human puppy we have around here. She won’t let Chloe get close to her though, is very protective of her. I guess it’s like you said, she was overwhelmed with the stimulation of it all. It is strange when it’s something they’ve never seen before!
Of course, Bunny and Blueberry were gracious hosts! But KUSTER? What a surprise that Kuster enjoyed her (and her toys)! What a girly man he is, indeed…just kidding!
Glad you all were finally able to get Miss Goldilocks to sleep…phew!
Bunny, of all the dogs in the world, you are the first one I would think of when it comes to finding a canine babysitter. I am glad you all had a great time with Goldilocks!
This is so sweet, Carrie. We’re glad the pups and Goldilocks had a great weekend.
What a lovely photo of Bunny with your little visitor!
Wishing you all the very best for 2013,
Clive & Murray
Bunny,
Human puppies are overrated. Although we hear they’re good to follow because they don’t have hand/eye coordination yet humans still give them lots of food to hold.
Blue
I’ve smilled a few of those things at the market. They do have some interesting smells but the crying…not a big fan of that!!!
OMD…you were sooooooo good with that human puppy Bunny!! Arty really loves human puppies too, but the rest of us like it when they get a little bigger…
Smileys!
Dory & the Gang!
Ah yes, young dogs and baby toys. That’s why Dexter does not visit the in-laws when the wee ones are over. It was very sweet of Kuster to show Shrimp his favorite toy.
Never a dull moment at the Taleteller residence
What a cutie! Cali loves babies – I think it’s because they always smell like FOOD!
That was so nice of you to human puppysit! I like human puppies a lot but then I has nefur had one spend the night and cry and stuffs. They usually just gib me skritches and smooches and then go home so I like that.
We agree, babies smell great and they are very lickable.
Wyatt and Stanzie
What a fun little overnight guest you had! It takes our dogs a little bit to settle down when someone new spends the night, it’s more Leroy than Sherman, but eventually he settles down!
Love the pictures of Goldilocks!
Those baby pillows are super comfy aren’t they …and sometimes you find little crumbs and other yummy things on their clothes. I guess that’s the reward of babysitting.
The picture of you and Goldilocks made my assistant go crazy! SO CUTE!
Your pal, Pip
What a wonderful final photo! Sweet Goldilocks and Sweet Bunny.
That’s crazy about Morgan’s sensory overload. Shyla can be afraid of new things, like babies. Could Morgan have actually been scared and expressing it by going crazy? After all my reading about how to handle fearful (“reactive” is the technical term), I do know that the kind of behavior that Morgan displayed is often part of a fear reaction.
What adventures you have!
OMD that human puppy is adorable. Sounds like all had a good time except Morgan–just a bit too much I’m sure. Nothing melts my heart more than big dogs with little people
You asked if I was on Flickr, unfortunately I am not–should I be?? Don’t know much about it. Can you give me some input on it??
Happy tuesday.
val and the girlz
How sweet! Yes, I imagine Morgan was overwhelmed with how easily her home defenses had been breached.
The picture of you and little Goldilocks is so adorable!
