Nu Vet Reviews: Trying Out Nu Vet Supplements

by Houndstooth on

A few months ago, I was approached by Nu Vet and asked if I would be interested in trying some of their supplements and reviewing them.  I admit that at first I was skeptical, because supplements take a while to show a lot of benefit, but they were willing to send us enough that our dogs would be on it long enough for me to really see if there were benefits.  That was my first clue that this company really stands behind their products and believes in them.

We were sent two different supplements to try.  One was Nu Vet Plus, which is a general health booster, much like a daily vitamin for us.  The other was Nu Joint Plus, which contains glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM and vitamin C to help keep joint pain and ailments at bay.  Our dogs all tried both of the supplements, even though three of them seem too young to have to think about joint issues.  The truth is that it’s a good idea to start your pet on joint supplements before you think they’ll need them.

The Good Stuff

Over the past few months, I’ve begun to understand why they stand so firmly behind their products.  It’s because their products are good and they really work.  I have been very impressed by the way the supplements have enhanced all four of our dogs’ health.  Each one comes in a chewable tablet form, which I like a lot.  When I had questions, they were quickly answered, and the answers were checked out to be sure they were right before they were sent.  Overall, I have only had positive interactions with this company, which is saying a lot.  There wasn’t one single time when they weren’t helpful or positive in answering my questions and helping me make decisions.

None of our dogs was really lacking a spring in their step, but after having lived with five Greyhounds who were seniors, I definitely learned that being consistent with joint supplements was the way to go.  The biggest problem I had with supplements in the past was that our dogs didn’t like the taste.  I tried mixing them with a whole host of things to make them more palatable, but picky Lilac could smell them a mile away and would refuse to eat her food if I put them in.  Eventually, I gave up on giving them to her.  With the Nu Joint, this wasn’t a problem.  It also has chicken liver in it and our dogs lined up for this stuff like it was candy.  The rep warned me to keep the bottles put up, and I could see why.  They seem to think it’s candy made just for them.

As for the Nu Vet Plus, I definitely began to see less flaky skin as time went on.  Since our dogs have been taking it, none of them has been sick and they all seem to have good energy and motivation.  They’re made to be easy for your pet to digest and help to keep them healthy and active.  They definitely did that for our dogs, and these have chicken liver in them, too, which meant our dogs were just as eager to eat these as they were the Nu Joint tablets.

Supplements to Make DogS Feel Good

I would definitely pay to use these supplements again, and I will be ordering them for our dogs in the future.  Finding supplements that our dogs are eager to take, are easy to dispense and easy to understand is a definite benefit in my book.  I’ve been reluctant to endorse supplements in the past, but I really believe in these.  Since our dogs think we’re dispensing candy, I guess we’d better keep it up to keep them happy.

We have an opportunity for you to try it for yourself. You can win one bottle of Nu Vet Plus and one bottle of Nu Joint Plus to try for your dog. Just use the Rafflecopter to enter. We wish you good luck!

It is good when we find something that does what it says it will do.

I have entered the raffle, but if I win I’d like Flattery’s rescue kennels to get it.

It’s great to hear that you’ve found something that works for you guys.

that is the hard thing with supplements – trying to get to eat them. None of my boys will take tablets so I end up turning the tablets into powder and putting it in their food – but then you are never sure they are getting the right amount. Something they would actually eat would be great.

That’s awesome! Hardest part of supplements are getting them to take them. I have to give Rainy her glucosamine in a peanut butter spoon. I’ll keep this company in mind.

  • I am interested in these supplements since you mentioned the “no more flaky skin” I would love to see Power with shiny fur and NO flakes! Fleur is getting old so I probably should have had her on these for years already!

  • Teach has been on NuVet Plus since he was a puppy and LOVES them. I have been wanting to check out the Joint Supplement as well. So glad to hear that they are working for you all and it sounds like your crew likes them as well as Teach does.

I was just sent some supplements that Bentley will be trying. He doesn’t have any issues but Bassets do tend to have problems later in life. Short legs and long bodies make a supplement a great idea. I’m glad to know you noticed a difference.

I’m always looking for new supplements to try for our seniors–Thanks for the good review that I’ll keep in mind! I hope all is well with you, I’ve been missing your blog, but following you in another place that I love to stalk, Facebook! 🙂

We were skeptical too and also reviewed them. We have been ordering them ever since. They have helped Katie a lot with her arthritis and we love to eat them!

No I have not but I have been doing a lot of reading about the different supplement out there for dogs, I would be interested in trying a supplement for Schooner and Skipper.

  • I’m so glad they worked well for you. Our vet actually specifies exactly what brand etc of supplements to give our pups so I can’t switch… but I’m happy with ours too.

  • I’ve been SO happy with NuVet supplements! They’re a great company. When Cooper had an “incident” (got into the box and ate an entire bottle… the ENTIRE BOTTLE) they were on it, calmed my fears, and told me what to expect (lotsa GI issues). So pleased with that level of customer service!

You wouldn’t think that Flattery would stand out so much on a black background, but she really pops! I am excited to give these a try. I have my dogs on salmon oil right now. And while it is doing wonders for their skin and coats, I am growing tired of the fish breath and stinky gas. I will definately give these a try!
