A few months ago, I was approached by Nu Vet and asked if I would be interested in trying some of their supplements and reviewing them. I admit that at first I was skeptical, because supplements take a while to show a lot of benefit, but they were willing to send us enough that our dogs would be on it long enough for me to really see if there were benefits. That was my first clue that this company really stands behind their products and believes in them.
We were sent two different supplements to try. One was Nu Vet Plus, which is a general health booster, much like a daily vitamin for us. The other was Nu Joint Plus, which contains glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM and vitamin C to help keep joint pain and ailments at bay. Our dogs all tried both of the supplements, even though three of them seem too young to have to think about joint issues. The truth is that it’s a good idea to start your pet on joint supplements before you think they’ll need them.
Over the past few months, I’ve begun to understand why they stand so firmly behind their products. It’s because their products are good and they really work. I have been very impressed by the way the supplements have enhanced all four of our dogs’ health. Each one comes in a chewable tablet form, which I like a lot. When I had questions, they were quickly answered, and the answers were checked out to be sure they were right before they were sent. Overall, I have only had positive interactions with this company, which is saying a lot. There wasn’t one single time when they weren’t helpful or positive in answering my questions and helping me make decisions.
None of our dogs was really lacking a spring in their step, but after having lived with five Greyhounds who were seniors, I definitely learned that being consistent with joint supplements was the way to go. The biggest problem I had with supplements in the past was that our dogs didn’t like the taste. I tried mixing them with a whole host of things to make them more palatable, but picky Lilac could smell them a mile away and would refuse to eat her food if I put them in. Eventually, I gave up on giving them to her. With the Nu Joint, this wasn’t a problem. It also has chicken liver in it and our dogs lined up for this stuff like it was candy. The rep warned me to keep the bottles put up, and I could see why. They seem to think it’s candy made just for them.
As for the Nu Vet Plus, I definitely began to see less flaky skin as time went on. Since our dogs have been taking it, none of them has been sick and they all seem to have good energy and motivation. They’re made to be easy for your pet to digest and help to keep them healthy and active. They definitely did that for our dogs, and these have chicken liver in them, too, which meant our dogs were just as eager to eat these as they were the Nu Joint tablets.
I would definitely pay to use these supplements again, and I will be ordering them for our dogs in the future. Finding supplements that our dogs are eager to take, are easy to dispense and easy to understand is a definite benefit in my book. I’ve been reluctant to endorse supplements in the past, but I really believe in these. Since our dogs think we’re dispensing candy, I guess we’d better keep it up to keep them happy.
