If you read our blog on a regular basis, you might get the idea that some of our dogs are a little pampered or even spoiled. I think we all spoil our pets a bit to some degree. If you’re a multiple pet household, you might even spoil your pets a little differently. Sometimes that’s from necessity, like a dog with a special diet, and other times it’s for other reasons, like one younger dog who wants or needs more exercise while an older dog needs a little more quiet time with you.
In our house, there is one dog who is extra spoiled, and it might surprise you to learn who it is. My husband takes care of the girls’ nail trims. Likewise, if they need a bath, we either put them in the tub or get the hose out if the weather is warm and take care of things outside. When they need to be groomed, Mr. Taleteller stands them on the bench outside and gets out the Furminator. In short, if they need any grooming, we take care of it here at home.
You might have noticed that I mentioned the girls. The boy in our house is another matter entirely. When Küster needs a pedicure, Mr. Taleteller takes him over to the vet to have his nails done. If the boy needs to freshen up, my husband takes him over to Nilla’s Tub and gives him the full spa treatment in a raised tub with special shampoo, followed by a blow dry so his fur doesn’t get frizzy. The boy is one pampered pooch, to say the least.
I have no idea how Küster’s grooming habits got so metrosexual and high class. You would think that the working dog of the group would have the most basic tastes. Of all our dogs, he’s the only one who really enjoys a bath, and at Nilla’s, the struggle is real to keep him out of the tub when you don’t want him in there. He loves being fussed over.
I guess a part of me just finds it funny that my husband will complain about the girls being spoiled when his boy spends so much time being pampered. I am pretty sure the girls don’t mind or care one bit. And the truth is, we all have our guilty pleasures to enjoy.
