Starting The Year

by Bunny Hound on
Bunny here at the keyboard to write about starting the year at our house.

I know that humans get a lot more excited about the start of a new year than we dogs do, but it’s not all bad for us, either.  There are a lot of things that we dogs enjoy about the start of the year, and some that are a bit of a tail kink.  I haven’t made any serious resolutions myself.  There are a few things I’d like to change, but if I don’t get around to it, I’m not going to worry.  I’m too old and wise for that by now.

Resolutions For A New Year -- Tales and Tails

Resolutions For A New Year

A lot of times, humans want to get in better shape, especially after all the eating they do over the holidays.  It’s great if they want to take more walks because we get to take more walks, provided it’s not rainy or slippery out.  So far, the weather here hasn’t let us get any outdoor walking in besides what we absolutely have to do.  There’s a rumor my human might take Flattery and I out to a store or two for a little safe leg stretch this week, but we’ll see how the roads are.  A few years ago, I’d have been disappointed, but right now, I feel like if we just curl up on the couch all week with a good book or two, I’m good with that.

The other thing that humans tend to want to do is eat better.  This is not so good for us dogs.  Instead of the random pizza bone or bite of cheese after they eat, there are things like vegetables left over.  Yuck!  I am sure my ancestors didn’t get their figures from chasing vegetables across the open fields, so I can’t see how they are supposed to be that good for you.  Give me a piece of meat any day.  Fortunately, this habit doesn’t tend to last with the humans as long as the exercise goals do.

Checking the Scale

All I know is that I’ll love my humans just the same if they achieve the goals they set or not.  As long as we still get to spend time together, have fun and enjoy each other, then I consider it a successful year.  I was wondering what things all of you plan on doing this year, whether it’s a goal, a dream or definite plans that you have.  Let me here what 2018 is bringing for you, besides snow, ice and cold.  We have plenty of that here!

At the moment we have below freezing temps. Nothing like parts of the US are getting, but still very cold for us.

Until the weather warms up, my girls will get walks round the village. Once we start getting higher temps, we will start our weekly walks along the cliffs, along the beaches and meeting up with my friend and her two Greys and a Pointer for walks. In fact we hope to go on one of those walks tomorrow.

We hope you get plenty of outings with your humans. Sue, Polly & Honey
