Happy Sixth Birthday to K-9 Buzz, October 3 and K-9 Küster, October 8.
As for Küster, I remember where I was exactly six years ago tomorrow, because because it turned out to be a special day. I received a text message with some pictures letting me know that a litter of puppies had arrived. There were several brown gerbil-looking things and two black ones. One of these was my new K-9 partner.
We got to meet the puppies a couple of times before we made our pick. The Chief Editor and I were looking at completely different things, I was looking at the qualities in a puppy to make it a good search and rescue K-9 partner and she wanted an all black German Shepherd Dog. But, after some interactions with the puppies and some conversations with the breeder, a choice was finally made, and the weekend of Thanksgiving, that black ball of fur came home with us.
Seeing him grow up has been such a fascinating experience. It seems like yesterday that he was a little fuzz ball biting everything he could get into his month. The fact that he just re-certified last month for another two years is quite a milestone. In some ways, it seems like the six years have flown by, and in others, it seems like it has been a very long time. K-9 Küster is known to be very hard headed.
What I do know is that today, we are celebrating six awesome years we’ve had with our boy. Küster has changed my life in ways I never imagined. I hope that we will enjoy many years to come with him.
Happy Birthday, K-9 Küster and K-9 Buzz! Cheers to the birthday boys!
