A Go Pet Friendly Adventure

by Bunny Hound on
Bunny here at the keyboard sharing something really fun that we did this weekend.

You might have read that my favorite human had a pretty tough week last week.  Since she’d had it so rough, my other human, also known as Dad, thought it would be fun to surprise her with one of her favorite things.  So, we packed up on Saturday morning after Dad and Küster went to their training and set off with my human for an adventure.

We weren’t just taking off on some random trip, though.

We had a specific destination in mind.  My favorite human is friends with the human who writes Gopetfriendly.com which is a great site to visit if you want to travel in the US with your pets.  They travel the country in their RV and write about great dog friendly places where you can have fun with your pets.  As it happened, they were helping host a special adoption event in Saint Louis at a place called Big Daddy’s to help Stray Rescue of Saint Louis.

It was a glorious day for a road trip and I am so happy that we had a chance to get my favorite human out of the house and out for fresh air, sunshine and freedom.  The day was just too lovely to waste on doing something boring at home.  The farther we drove, the more my favorite human relaxed and started to enjoy the day.

My human didn’t know we were going until that day, so she didn’t get to tell Miss Amy that we were coming.  So, we got to surprise her when we showed up, too.  It was a lot of fun to see all the humans looking so happy and having fun.  The best part, though, was that we were actually at a dog party.

There were dogs of all sizes, shapes and colors there on the patio.

The rescue group had some adoptable dogs there, including a very cute puppy whose human was sitting at the table next to us.  There was a drawing for prizes from the sponsors, but we didn’t win anything.  My human said we might need to check out getting me a new hiking collar from one of them, though.

Flattery and I had a lot of fun schmoozing with both people and other dogs.   The girl at the table behind us started feeding Flattery French fries while my favorite human was answering someone’s questions about us on the other side of the table.  Flattery thought that was pretty funny.  She also thought about getting a taste of my human’s margarita, but my human was on to her.

It was a perfect day for lounging on the patio and meeting other dogs and their people.  We took full advantage of it for as long as we could.  Then we said our good-byes and packed up for the trip home.  It has been awhile since we had a good road trip like this one and we all had a great time.  It was good for all of us.  After all that fun, I think I’m going to take a long nap today while my human heads back to work.  You know it was a good time when you still need a nap two days later!

Hope you have a good week. Sue, Polly & Honey

  2. Honey and I are so jealous! Of course I don’t know why Honey would want to be put in her place by a regal greyhound, but there it is. 🙂

Sure sounds like a fun time. Mom spent 5 days with our cousin greyhound rescues Minie and Wilson.
