Enough Of This Time Change Business

by Houndstooth on

I’m not sure about any of you out there reading, but I have had enough of this time change business.  It’s an antiquated notion that we don’t really need anymore, and I think anyone with dogs or children will tell you that it’s more trouble than it’s worth.  This week, we were supposed to get an extra hour of sleep, but I think a lot of dog owners are feeling cheated on this deal.

A Sense of Contentment -- Tales and Tails

Resting Up

This week, Morgan is in more of a tizzy than usual, Flattery is more restless than usual and Küster has had a lot more to say.  Bunny, at least, has slept just as much as ever, bless her sweet heart.  No amount of ignoring, cajoling or bribery will get them to go back to sleep, or even attempt to settle down.  They feed off each other and I’ve seriously considered the benefits of being a single dog household.  We have been a tired, cranky bunch and I’d gladly give this hour back if we could go back to sleeping until the alarm goes off or gets close to it instead of having Morgan throw an unholy tantrum at 3:00 in the morning.

We’re in the process of changing their biological schedules, but it takes time and it feels like a losing battle.  It just seems like it would be a lot easier to skip the time change and let everyone live their life in peace.  If anyone has a petition to end Daylight Savings Time, I’ll be happy to sign it.  There is simply no reasoning with dogs about changing time and going back to sleep.

Calgon, Take Me Away

If you’re going through the same thing we are, just know that you’re not alone.  Our poor dogs may be confused, but we’ll get used to it.  My guess is that it will take us about six months, and then we’ll get to turn around and do it again, only this time, we’ll be waking them up early.  Maybe it’s petty to look forward to that, but in my sleep deprived state this week, it’s all I’ve got.

I heard one of the states on the east coast said NO MORE DAYLIGHT SAVINGS for them! Let’s hope other states will follow. I think every human being and all animals feel the same way. I know we did not get an extra hour of sleep….

Arizona doesn’t do Daylight Savings. I think they have the right idea! Maybe it helped when most people were farming and electric lights weren’t everywhere, but now it’s just annoying!

We changed our clocks a few weeks ago. Both my girls were thrown by it for a couple of days. There are plenty of people here (in England) that would gladly stop altering the clocks.
