Today is that big holiday here in the United States when we celebrate our independence and feel gratitude for those who help to protect our way of life. If you live in the US, I hope you have time to relax, enjoy your freedom and spend time with friends and family, including those furry loved ones we all adore. I’ve said it before on the blog, but consider this one last plea to be especially careful with your dogs today.
More dogs get lost from their homes in the US on the Fourth of July than any other day. Fireworks are no joke for a lot of dogs. Just because your dog has been fine with them in the past, don’t assume that this year will be the same. Many dogs get a lot more sensitive to sound as they get older. If you’re going out to have fun with friends and family today and to watch the fireworks, please be smart and leave your pooch at home.
In closing, I’d like to say thank you to everyone who works to keep our country safe. Freedom isn’t free, but it’s easy to forget. There are sometimes things that frustrate me about the US or the people who live here, but I am incredibly grateful that we live here and have been able to thrive and grow here. I hope everyone reading gets to enjoy some fun and relaxation today. Happy Fourth of July!
