Bunny here at the keyboard sharing a book I recently came across with you.
Recently, we got a copy of Dogs Don’t Care, Dogs Poo Everywhere. Now, at first, you might be a little dubious about the book, either because you don’t like dog poo, or because you don’t want to imagine it everywhere, or for some other reason. I know I think of myself as a civilized hound with impeccable manners, and I wasn’t sure this book was for me.
Then I opened the cover. I’m not going to lie to you, I had a good laugh over this book. Dad laughed until I think I saw tears coming out of his eyes. It is more than a little irreverent, but I think most anybody would laugh about it if they’ve shared their life with a canine.
The premise of the book is sharing that there are some things about dogs that are the same, and some that are different, and that people love them anyway. It has some colorful illustrations that are based on real dogs and will make you smile. The words will definitely make you smile, or laugh or sometimes just say “ewww!” There are all kinds of dogs featured in the book; Pugs, Pit Bulls, Beagles, Greyhounds and others. They’re all cute and maybe a little naughty.
I wanted to be sure to share this book, though, because it has a special purpose.
You see, this book is a fund raiser for GPA Senior Sanctuary of Florida, Mayday Pit Bull Rescue and Advocacy, and National Mill Dog Rescue. Senior Sanctuary is near and dear to our hearts because they help senior Greyhounds. Mayday Pit Bull finds homes for Pit Bulls and Pit Bull mixes in need. National Mill Dog Rescue helps rehabilitate and find homes for dogs discarded by breeders in the puppy mill industry. So, I think no matter what kind of dog you love, you can feel good knowing that $5 from the sale of every book will go to these groups.
If you have a hard to shop for dog lover you need a gift for, this might be just what you need. It will make kids laugh, as well as grown ups who don’t take life too seriously. I never thought I’d like a book about dog poop, but it gave me a good giggle. Dad is looking forward to leaving it on the coffee table the next time we have guests over.
