Now that Thanksgiving is over, the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season hits pretty hard at our house. There are some parts of it that I love and some parts that I dread. It’s the most wonderful time of the year and also the season of poverty for us. Not only do we have five family Christmases to attend, but we have four family birthdays. I can’t lie, by the end of December, I’m more than ready to see it go. However, I also look forward to it because we do get to spend more time together, time with those we love and because it really sparks my creative spirit.
This year is the second year I’ve done a 365 Project, meaning that I take a photograph every single day. Sometimes, towards the end of the year, you start to feel like you’ve taken all the good photos you can take. However, for me Halloween and Christmas are really big creativity sparks. It really helps me to get through that last part of the year because I get a lot of ideas that I really want to try. I start a dream list of photos that I want to take sometimes, as a matter of fact.
A couple of years ago, I came across a blog called Leash Free Living where she takes Christmas color themed photos every day in December until Christmas. At first, I just admired her photos, and then last year, I decided to join in the fun and put my own twist on it. I do a holiday themed photo every day, but it is not always overtly so. Sometimes, it might be using traditional holiday colors and other times it might be something that really says Christmas, but might be nontraditional colors. It just depends on what spirit moves me.
It definitely makes things fun for me at the end of my project, but I’m coming to look forward to taking the holiday photos as a unique part of the season. I’m finding that it’s a thing that really makes me feel excited about the arrival of the season. It’s also something that I get to do just for me for a few minutes every day. Okay, sometimes it takes more than a few minutes, but it’s time I get to spend with Bunny, or one of the other dogs, and it helps me to keep myself a bit grounded and focused when the crazy whirl sets in.
I’m definitely planning to take pictures again this year, and hoping to do things that are new and cute. If anybody has any suggestions for things we should try, I’d love to hear them. It’s all done in fun, and we definitely enjoy ourselves as we go along.
Lastly, we’re going to be doing a review for Just4MyPet.com, and we wanted to do a giveaway, but to make sure that the winner gets the prize in time to enjoy it for the holidays, we’re going to do the giveaway now to start off the holiday season. Even if you don’t celebrate Christmas, they have some designs that I think could be cute for any time of year and aren’t necessarily really Christmas oriented, so please give them a look and see if there’s something you like. The Rafflecopter will close on December 4, so the winner can get their prize before the holidays. We wish you good luck! If the Rafflecopter doesn’t show for you, usually you can just refresh the page and it will appear, but if it doesn’t just follow the link and it will take you there. Due to shipping issues, it’s only open to members of the US and Canada.
